There is no debate about the efficacy of Red Light therapy in wound healing. The science is in and it has been in for many years. The obvious, obnoxious, and shameful issue now is WHEN (not if) it will be approved for funding by Medicare, and the greedy self interest of those who make MORE money when the people are sick.
Approximately 6 years ago Red Light was one of about 80 essential treatments that Medicare was being asked to cover by many expert and concerned health professionals. The political haggling about funding this essential and tremendously cost effective treatment has gone on and on. Probably because certain lobbyists and members of Congress have not been bribed enough – or threatened enough by their constituents.
The quality of life consequences that go un-addressed because of the absurd haggling over the minutia of economic concerns surrounding this light treatment grows more preposterous month after month. While the cost is borne by those who suffer diabetic ulcers, hard to heal bed sores, tissue wounds, and a host of issues that result from poor blood circulation, nothing gets done to help them. It is unconscionable to withhold this simple effective treatment. Safety is CERTAINLY not the issue – apparently bribery is at play.
Why are we still amputating feet because of diabetic ulcers ?? Why do our parents and grandparents suffer from simple bed sores that turn into infected body parts requiring expensive medical intervention. Why are so many people being deprived of one of our basic fundamental requirements of life ? I am not talking about food, water, or air, I am talking about LIGHT !!
Is our medicare system really so dysfunctional ? Why can’t an effective treatment, so simple, and economical as Red Light – and UVB – make it into the medicare system ?? Something is seriously wrong with our government and particularly our congress when these blindingly obvious solutions exist and yet can not be approved. Propaganda notwithstanding – it would be one thing if there was some credible UN-BIASED science out there that said Red Light Therapy and the benefits of UVB are controversial. In my opinion it is the stupid, self serving, special interest politics of a few greedy people and the corporatacracy that is holding obvious, simple, economical light treatment from the people who NEED it the most for quality of life and death issues. That would be the aged who lose the most benefit of light treatment but it affects all of us who are subjected to the preposterous propaganda against LIGHT.
A Red Light Treatment of 5 – 10 minutes a day hanging on the side of a bed should be a daily option for those in assisted living and nursing centers throughout the USA ?? Shamefully it is not. Apparently it is easier to give them another pill – creating more problems and more pills, which has (against all common sense) been advocated by big Pharma and the AMA corporatacracy. The system is simply out of control, replicating and sustaining itself out of shear helplessness and disregard for the common sense of the people !
Just one, $150. dollar bulb provides light for 17 years, at 8 hours a day and it runs on 14 watts !! That is a total life time of 300,000 ten minute treatments over 17 years !! And the cost in electricity to run this device 8 hours a day would be less than a nickel a day !! It simply befuddles me, that this treatment could possibly be held back by Medicare.
However, I can understand why Red Light and UVB are being held back by Big Pharma, chemical companies, the AMA, and other Corporate/Government entities. They essentially WANT people to be sick. Because that is “their” greedy bottom line.
