UVB is Vitamin D. However, UVB is only available at certain times of the day (around solar noon) and only certain months of the year (depending on your latitude). Latitude is an important fact in reference to your proximity to the equator, and your ability to get Vitamin D from the sun, particularly in Sun Valley, Idaho. Through out Idaho there is ZERO Vitamin D (UVB) between September and April !! In general, if you live north of Texas and work indoors, you are most likely Vitamin D deficient. Due to the success of the “Sun Scare Industry” and their preposterous propaganda it is estimated that more than 85% of the people in the USA are Vitamin D deficient. Vitamin D deficiency is one of the primary causes of cancer, heart disease, bone deterioration, and a host of other diseases. If you regularly use sun block, then you are more likely to be Vitamin D deficient, AND, more likely to contract skin cancer.
At a very minimum we should all be supplementing with at least 5,000 IU of Vitamin D3 per day. Vitamin D3 is the best oral supplement, and it is inexpensive, costing a mere $1.60 or less per month. Our foods simply do not have sufficient quantities of D3 in them to build optimum Vitamin D levels in the blood. You should have your Vitamin D level tested. Over 50 ng/ml is considered relatively good but generally you should raise it to the optimum of 90 ng/ml .
Our most natural source of Vitamin D of course is from the sun. However we rarely get enough Vitamin D outdoors because UVB is present only for an hour or so on either side of Solar Noon. And remember there is only UVB in Sun Valley between April and August. The alternative is to get UVB from a Sun Bed. Light is our best and most natural source of Vitamin D. The propaganda promoted the past 25 years – that Sun Beds and the sun itself are poison is false and utterly fraudulent. However that propaganda and its acceptance has given people in the USA the distinction of having the LOWEST levels of Vitamin D of all first world countries and the highest levels of diseases on the planet due primarily to Vitamin D deficiency. It also works nicely for the SPF chemical and cosmetic industry, plus it keeps certain types of doctors very very busy. It is easy to have ignorance about an issue, when your livelihood depends on perpetuating that ignorance. And the sun scare that has been perpetuated the past 25 years by the cancer, chemical, and skin industry is preposterous and believed now to have caused MASSIVE skin cancer (and extreme numbers of other diseases) simply because SPF blocks a critical nutrient that we need a lot of and that is Vitamin D.
There are three types of UV (Ultra-Violet) . UVA is the more damaging because it penetrates much deeper in the skin before it burns, and it is primarily responsible for the REAL skin damage. UVA’s are rarely blocked by SPF. So if you slather up with skin block and go outside with lily white skin you may think you are protected, and on the very top of your skin you are protected from UVB which does not penetrate the surface. But your skin cells are literally frying below the surface where the real damage occurs from UVA (in the deeper epidermis there are no nerve cells and you can’t see the redness). Thus the higher incidence of skin cancer combined with the fact that you have blocked the one Vitamin that works to protect you from skin cancer has proven that wearing Sun Block (except in extreme conditions) is the the worst thing you can do to your skin and the worst thing you can do to your overall health. UVC is blocked by our atmosphere (it was why the scientist were freaking out 30 years ago). When it was determined the ozone hole was caused by CFL’s (Freon gas) entering the atmosphere we required industry to stop or at least slow the emissions. In fact it still is the primary cause of skin cancer in Australia because the ozone hole is primarily at the south pole. Sun block does absolutely NOTHING to block UVC, though the skin and cancer industry would very much like you to believe that UVB is the problem, while failing to mention UVA has anything to do with skin cancer.
With intelligent managed UVA/UVB exposure, incrementally and slowly deepening your pigments over several weeks, you will build a strong base tan without burning, and you will be healthier because of it. By virtue of NOT wearing sun screen the NATURAL Vitamin D (UVB) that you acquire outdoors or in a Sun bed will enhance organ, gland and blood levels that fight cancer and scores of other diseases. Optimum Vitamin D shows an 80% reduction in FIVE major cancers and two of those are breast and prostrate cancers. These are facts that many in the medical profession fail to mention, mostly for their own reasons.

I hope this has been informative. I don’t mean to beat a dead horse but if you think GMO foods are harmless, that the use of pesticides, fungicides, and the heavy use of chemical fertilizer makes your food more nutritious then you, the FDA, Big Pharma, and the entire chemical and its industrial agriculture machine will be happy to suggest that you live in a cave, and avoid the sun at all costs (particularly around noon). There will be a lot of oncologists and disease specialists who will also appreciate you believing that the sun and tanning beds are poison. Because that really works for them.
